Yes, there’s actually a waterproof LCD monitor — though not in a sense that can be submerged. It’s the Collevo IP65 LCD and it can be used outdoors, like in your backyard on a rainy day. It comes in sizes ranging from 26" to 42" with a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The front panel, top and rear sides are properly sealed, given the nature of its use. As far as learning about LCD electronics is concerned, you can check out the site below. It’s a good starting point with multiple levels of detail.
Collevo has just rolled out its waterproof IP65 LCD monitor, making it suitable for outdoor use. Chances are pretty good that this will remain a commercial appliance more than one for the home, although it won’t be ruled out by folks who want something different in their backyard. Featrues of the IP65 include :
1,366 x 768 resolution (for 26", 32" and 40" models)
1,920 x 1,080 resolution (for 42" model)
1,500:1 contrast ratio
Operational in temperatures of up to 50 degrees centigrade
Sanyo, PowerVision, Aquatic, and Nanov all make waterproof LCD TVs. Not sure if they make Monitors.
