Samsung SyncMaster 27IN 2560×1440 LED PLS LCD Monitor Unboxing & First Look Linus Tech Tips

I think (in my mind at least) it’s official. PLS is better than IPS. This is hands down the best monitor I’ve ever used including my VA 30″ beast at home. ncix.com

    @productionvideobb Hi, I just got the 24″ version back from repair, I also had a backlight bleed issue but it was all covered by the warranty, no issues there. Now I have a ultra-black and smooth backlight. The colours are truly amazing on this monitor, I can only recommend it.

    @Purepromedia

    The 27″ SA850 has true 8bit panel which can render the full sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces natively. 6bit+AFRC panels use dithering to emulate an 8bit color spectrum.

    If you get an 850 without back light bleed, such as mine, it’s a fantastic monitor. Especially if you hate the glossy reflective glass screen of the Apple Cinema Display, or the heavy matte anti glare filters on the other IPS panels, which make whites look sparkly and grainy.

    Post #674 has a link to a Czech review with panel specs.

  13. @robinhoodtheorem I thought it was 10bit? :O care to elaborate? Or is the processing 10bit, and panel 8bit? Up-sampling is stupid IMO/

    The 27 SA850 is a true 8bit panel. The 24″ version is 6bit+AFRC.
